Positive outcome of the test run of Hygroscopic condenser at Holmen Paper

Pilum and its subsidiary HyHeat AB completed the test run of the new heat pump technology at Holmen Paper's plant at Braviken. The test has been going on since April and has provided valuable experience. Overall, the result is positive. The patented part, which can be compared to an open heat pump, has met the requirements, which is very positive. The other parts of the process requires some minor adjustments to the process to function properly, which will take place in the near future.
A final report will be submitted to Värmeforsk in late August. The plant will remain and deliver energy to Holmen during the autumn: HyHeat receives compensation for the energy supply and Holmen is also able to buy the plant.
Business Opportunities
An estimated 50 TW hours of heat is wasted in Sweden alone to which this technology with low-grade heat could be applied, provided the recovered heat can be put at good use.
Pilum is working with its subsidiary HyHeat AB, which owns the patents that are at Plum’s disposal and that Pilum holds the marketing rights for within multiple application areas.
The next application to test the technology is for a small bio boiler. The technology is expected to give a much greater energy output than traditional condensation (heat recovery) as it is operating at completely different temperatures.
Pilum currently owns approximately 32.7% of HyHeat AB and has the opportunity to increase this to 40%.
