Energy & Heat Recovery
Business area Condensation, which is part of Pilum Polyproject Sweden AB, is working with energy and heat recovery from flue gas condensation and delivers operationally reliable and economical technology to the remote heating- and combined heat and power plants for bio-and waste incineration boilers
Contracts cover design, procurement, supply, installation and start up of a complete ready to run plants. The proprietary technology, which is adapted to each project, purify exhaust gases and enhance the overall boiler efficiency by 20-30%, i.e. the benefit to customers is both environmental and financial. Payoff time for Pilum technologies can sometimes be as short as two to three years.
Business area Condensation offers:
- Recovery of heat energy by condensation of the flue gas in existing or new plants burning biomass or waste.
- Water to clean flue gas condensate from contaminants before discharge to the recipient (receiving water), sewage or recirculated back to the boiler.
- Upgrading the existing incinerators to meet new environmental standards.
- Conversion of heat to the cooling.
Flue gas condensation
Flue gas condensation utilizes the energy content in humid and hot exhaust gases before they are discharged through the chimney, while a particle extraction of the exhaust gases occurs. The particles are transferred from the gas to the flue gas concentrate, which is then purified with Pilum's proprietary condensate water treatment technology, before it is discharged to recipient or pumped to for example a municipal sewage treatment plant.
Flue gas condensation is a well-established technology in countries such as Sweden and Finland. Some plants have also been installed in Europe. Since 1988, staff in this business area and in Pilum, have delivered more than 60 plants.
Business area Condensation can deliver both condensation with lamella heat exchangers in none-corrosive materials and scrubbers in fiberglass reinforced plastic (GRP), depending on the requirements for the specific application. For those customers who have high emission requirements their condensate water treatment plant can be designed so that the condensate can be cleaned from for instance heavy metals to negligible levels.
Different techniques such as traditional heavy metal precipitation such as water purification with ion exchangers and filters of all kinds - everything from sand filters to ultra-filtration is used and the group has expertise in all technologies.
Even ammonia in flue gas condensate can be extracted and recycled in NOx cleaning in the boiler.
Sales Manager is Tomas Eriksson and operations are located in Upplands Väsby and Norrköping.
